چکیده

According to the theory of the development of the shouldergirdle of Gegenbaur (1898), the embryonic coracoid is connected with the clavicle by the cartilaginous procoracoid. In the course of normal development, this bone becomes fibrous and is ultimately transformed into the coracoclavicular ligaments. On their surface, in normal adults, nests of chondrocytes and even small nodules of cartilage are frequently seen. Whereas Gegenbaur's theory has been accepted by some (including Huntington, 1918; Ravelli, 1955), it has been opposed by others (Hanson, 1920; Hommes, 1921). However, whatever its value from the morphogenetic point of view, this theory can provide a suitable basis for the

Modified Internal Fixation Technique for Acromio-Clavicular (AC) joint dislocation: The “Hidden Knot Technique”

Acromioclavicular (AC) joint injuries are common and often seen in contact athletes, resulting from a fall on the shouldertip with adducted arm. This joint is stabilized by both static and dynamic structures including the coracoclavicular (CC)ligament. Most reconstruction techniques focus on CC ligament augmentation as the primary stabilizer of the AC joint. The best surgical technique for some ...

Surgical excision of a symptomatic congenital coracoclavicular joint.

The coracoclavicular joint is a rare anatomic variant that consists of an articulation between the conoid tubercle of the clavicle and the superior surface of the coracoid process of the scapula. The coracoclavicular joint is most often asymptomatic and is found incidentally. A symptomatic coracoclavicular joint is exceedingly rare, with only 17 cases reported from 1915 to 2009. Symptoms may in...

Pathological Findings of Osteoarthritis in Sternoclavicular Joint

Background: The sternoclavicular joint (SCJ) is the only synovial articulation between the upper extremity and the trunk. This joint is one of the most frequently used joints, so osteoarthritis (OA) should be very common. However, there are few studies about OA in this joint. Methods: In this study, 48 sternoclavicular joints from the left and right joints of 23 cases and two left joints from t...
